The Turmeric, Honey and Lemon Face Mask That Can Erase Sunspots and Reverse Sun Damage

Erase Sunspots

Uneven skin tone, age spots, sun spots, acne scars, freckles and hyper pigmentation are some of the many skin problems that people struggle with.

However, instead of turning to store-bought products based on chemicals to lighten and brighten your skin tone, why not opt for natural ingredients (many of which are in your kitchen while you’re reading this). Not only will you be able to control the ingredients and doses, but you will also avoid any negative side effects.

Dangers of Conventional Skin Brighteners: Hydroquinone

Hydroquinone is a highly controversial topical skin-care ingredient. While it has been proven to inhibit your skin’s natural melanin production, the substance secreted by the skin to protect itself against harmful UV radiation from the sun, it doesn’t come without its dangers.

Hydroquinone is highly toxic, and therefore, can cause severe irritation to the skin, especially for people with sensitive skin or allergies. Very often, however, hydroquinone causes redness, itching or a burning sensation – is not something you want to impose your skin on a regular basis!

Ironically, hydroquinone is often used to reduce sun damage and stains, which makes your skin more susceptible to UV rays and UVB damage! This can lead to more serious spots, sun or worse, dangerous burns and increased risk of certain cancers. To start, several medical studies have stated that hydroquinone is a possible carcinogen.

Natural Skin Brightening Options

Skip the over-priced and dangerous store-bought skin brighteners and turn to mother nature’s natural offerings. Not only will you avoid dangerous or unpredictable side effects, but these have proved to be equally, if not more, effective than their chemical based alternatives.

  • Lemon

Lemon is a safe and effective way to lighten skin naturally. Naturally rich in vitamin C, lemons effectively illuminate the overall skin tone, clear lighten dark spots and acne scars. Vitamin C has been scientifically proven to reduce the production of melanin in the skin. Excessive production of melanin can cause dark skin tone and patches.

High citric acid content of lemon bleaches and exfoliates the skin. Together, dead skin cells will be lifted off and washed, revealing clearer, brighter skin underneath. Better yet, the high antibacterial and antifungal properties of lemon means that any bacteria accumulate in the process is killed and removed.

  • Turmeric

For centuries, turmeric has been used to naturally light skin pigmentation. Turmeric has always celebrated for its ability to brighten and smooth skin, revealing a more youthful radiant complexion.

Similar like lemon, high curcumin inhibits excessive secretion of melanin – the substance that gives your skin dark spots due to environmental factors.

Honey, Lemon, Turmeric Brightening Mask

Lemon and turmeric work to lighten the skin, while honey soothes any irritation or dryness. Together, your skin will be baby soft and over time you will get lighter, brighter skin!

Mix together:

  • 1 1/2 tsp raw honey
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric

  1. Apply the mixture on the skin and let stand for 20 minutes, then rinse. It can be applied as a spot treatment with Q-tip to the affected areas, such as age spots, sun spots and acne scars, or as a mask to level all your skin tone.
  2. Keep the solution in your refrigerator to maximize freshness.
  3. Remember that, because of lemon and turmeric, this solution can stain fabric.
